Development and cross-linkage of sustainable tourism offerings in Carinthia – c-sustour
Client: Kärntner Sparkasse Foundation, Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt
Cooperation: Inter 3
Duration: 2010-2011
Content: Climate change and reduced availability of non-renewable resources will require a massive reconstruction of our energy supply and economic system and beyond that will affect our everyday life and leisure behaviour. Tourism as the worldwide biggest service industry will not be able to decouple itself from such a development, since it is both a contributor and a victim of climate and societal change.
A convincing tourism policy should support tourism regions to adjust to the eco-nomic and societal changes lying ahead. c-sustour conducts an inventory as well as a strategy formation of sustainable tourism in Carinthia. It thereby contributes to the development and cross-linkage of sustainable tourism offerings in Carinthia.
As a methodological approach the “Constellation Analysis” especially designed for sustainability, technology and innovation studies was chosen. It is the conjecture of the research project, that tourism strategies so far need an amendment by means of a process, which analyses structural needs and obstacles from the viewpoint of sustainable development.
