The Institute for Advanced Studies offers international Research Fellows (for up to nine months) and Visiting Scholars (for about one month) the opportunity to investigate the social implications of scientific and technological development. Scientists intending to research into the links and interactions between science, technology and society will find ideal conditions and a stimulating research environment at the IAS-STS.

The IAS-STS also acts as a forum for international experts to exchange their ideas. This critical discourse will allow us to further increase the quality of scientific work performed at the Institute. This will benefit both the international Fellows and scientists working at Graz-based educational and research facilities.

The IAS-STS fits in perfectly with the university and non-university research landscape in Graz, with a view to supporting the technology policy objective of sustainable technology development.
